Keeping the DAP Residential Programs Open
In 2010, the Director of the Delaware Autism Program proposed shutting down their residential program, in which students who could not live at home full-time either due to behaviors or need for more intensive learning had been participating for over 20 years. Autism Delaware joined parents in opposing the closure of the homes. At present that proposal is no longer active, and a home that had already been closed, forcing co-ed living arrangements in one home, has been re-opened as a single-sex facility.
