Owner of the winning ticket thought call was a practical joke
NEWARK, DEL., December 2, 2011—The 2012 Toyota Camry LE donated by Hertrich Toyota of Milford and Autism Delaware and raffled off at the Autism Gala & Auction in Dewey Beach on Saturday, November 19, was won by Jim Curley, an Ambler, Pennsylvania, resident and uncle of a child with autism.
“With only 500 raffle tickets available,” said Kim Siegel, Autism Delaware’s policy and walk director, “Mr. Curley’s chances of winning were a lot better than if he’d bought a lottery ticket, but when I called to tell him the good news, he thought it was a practical joke.”
“We love that we can help make someone’s day like this,” added Theda Ellis, executive director at Autism Delaware. “We’re thankful to the Hertrich family for making this fundraiser possible. We can give someone a new car—and the proceeds benefit Autism Delaware! We’re expanding our services statewide, so we will put the proceeds to good use.”
“We at Hertrich Toyota are impressed by the wonderful work Autism Delaware does across the state and the support it garners in the community,” said Tushar Patel, general manager at Hertrich Toyota, “and we’re proud to be associated with this cause.”
