Light It Up Blue

The month of April is Autism Acceptance and Inclusion month. The town of Seaford, DE supports Autism Speaks and Autism Delaware by “Lighting It Up Blue.” This campaign is designed to color the world blue to increase awareness of the challenges faced by people with autism. Awareness is the key to funding research for a cure and helping develop treatments that provide opportunities for people with autism to thrive in this world. Even more importantly, awareness leads to acceptance of people with autism. Given that 1 in 36 children and 1 in 45 adults have autism, just imagine how many community members have children, family members, or close friends that are affected!

The City of Seaford’s ceremony took place in Gateway Park on April 15, 2024. The evening featured guest speaker Tomara Williams, Autism Delaware’s Family Navigator for Kent and Sussex Counties and featured songs by students from Frederick Douglass Elementary School.
