Walk 2023 Grand Marshal Daniel Montanye’s Story

Even though he is only 6, my son Daniel’s journey has already been a long one. In his first year of life, we noticed he was having difficulty hearing appropriately and enrolled him in both occupational and speech therapy. He also required social and emotional therapies as well as PCIT (parent child interactive therapy) in order to communicate his feelings more effectively.

During this time, we moved to a new school district where the school psychologist performed a new evaluation on Daniel. She noticed Daniel scripting, which allowed us to have an autism screening performed in March 2022. When the results came back and he did, indeed, have ASD, we were presented with a number of resources to look into, eventually leading us to Autism Delaware.
